Arthur Colsky M.D., Ph.D.
Board certified in dermatology and cutaneous surgery, Dr. Colsky earned his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Miami School of Medicine where he continues to serve on the volunteer teaching faculty as Clinical Instructor. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in molecular biology at Vanderbilt University where he also began his research interest in immunology. He continued his scientific studies at the University of Miami where he published many scientific articles and was the recipient of scientific awards and distinctions for his research in cancer immunology. While in medical school, Dr. Colsky was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society in recognition of his academic performance. Following his internship in internal medicine, Dr. Colsky completed his residency training in the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Dr. Colsky is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a former member of the Academy's Environmental Council. Dr. Colsky specializes in medical and aesthetic Dermatology and is founder and medical director of the Advanced Acne Institute.

 

Catherine Balestra M.D.
Catherine Harrison Balestra, MD was born and raised in Miami, FL. She graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Molecular Biology where she was awarded the Academic All-Ivy award and played Varsity Volleyball. She earned her medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine and received multiple accolades including the Alpha Omega Alpha honors, "Best Student in Dermatology" award, "Best Student in Anatomy" award, "Best Student in Pharmacology" award and "Best Student in Physiology" award. After completing her internship in Internal Medicine at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Dr. Balestra received her Dermatology specialty training at the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami. Dr. Balestra has published numerous articles in medical journals and has performed prize-winning clinical and basic science research presented at local and national dermatology meetings. She is voluntary faculty of the Universtiy of Miami Department of Dermatology where she teaches and lectures to residents. Dr. Balestra is board certified and specializes in medical and cosmetic dermatology and Mohs micrographic surgery. In her free time, she enjoys snorkeling, boating and spending time with her husband and children.

 

T.J. Giuffrida M.D.
Dr. Giuffrida has been practicing in the Miami area for over 5 years. His undergraduate degree was achieved at the University of Florida before completing his medical degree and internship at Emory University in Atlanta. His Dermatology residency training was at the University of Miami. He subsequently completed his Mohs and Dermatologic Surgery Fellowship in Kansas City.

Dr. Giuffrida is board certified by the American Board Dermatology and an associate of the American College of Mohs Surgery. He is currently Volunteer Faculty in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Miami.

Dr. Giuffrida is one of the few fellowship trained Mohs surgeons in South Florida. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer and he offers full time Mohs Micrographic Surgery for the treatment of high risk skin cancers.

 

Varee Poochareon M.D.
A Miami native, Dr. Varee N. Poochareon earned her undergraduate degree in Biology through the prestigious dual degree Honors Program in Medicine at the University of Miami, graduating cum laude, with minors in Religious Studies and in Geography and Regional Studies. At the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Poochareon went on to receive her medical degree with Research Distinction. She was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha (National Medical Honor Society) and awarded the “Best Student Award” in Dermatology, as well as the John K. Robinson Grant for Student Initiatives for her prolific research and many publications, most significantly in the areas of sun protection education and scars. Dr. Poochareon completed both her internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital. During this time, she continued to publish peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and earned grants from the Women’s Dermatologic Society and American Society for Dermatologic Surgery for preceptorships in cosmetic dermatology and dermatology for ethnic skin. Dr. Poochareon is board-certified in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She enjoys national and international travel, cooking, and exercising in her spare time.
