What treatments can be seen via teledermatology?
During this time when the COVID-19 virus has caused great reason for concern, it is essential that our patients feel comfortable, safe, and healthy with their dermatological care. At the Skin Center of South Miami, we understand that some patients may want to get assistance from the comfort and safety of their own home—especially aging patients or those with current conditions that can make them a high-risk individual for the Coronavirus. Thanks to today’s technology, our practice remains open for individuals who can make it in—while also offering teledermatology to those who cannot.
What can be done through teledermatology and telemedicine?
At the Skin Center of South Miami, we understand the hesitance some patients may have about leaving the house for unnecessary reasons. This is why we have developed teledermatology to allow many patients to see our professionals from home. Using video technology, our doctors can help evaluate patients for certain conditions. Acne, rosacea, and eczema can be diagnosed through teledermatology, while some treatments need to be seen directly, including those who are undergoing certain therapies such as chemical peels, light treatments, or injectables.
Additionally, patients who have follow-ups scheduled with our team can have their appointment completed electronically with video teleconferencing. These follow-up appointments are often done to check up on how a patient is doing following a certain treatment or to allow patients to get pharmaceutical refills approved through our team. Teledermatology makes it possible for patients to get necessary solutions without having to leave their own and put themselves at risk for COVID-19 contraction.
How do I book an appointment?
In addition to calling our office and speaking to our front office team, we also offer online scheduling of video appointments. This can be done right on our website using our specialized appointment request form.
