Are my 50’s too old for Botox?

What is Botox and how does it work?
Many patients are familiar with the brand Botox but might not fully understand how it works in reducing the signs of aging. Botox is considered a neuromodulator, which is used to reduce muscle contractions. When Botox is injected into specific muscles of the face, it can keep these muscles from tightening and therefore smooth away dynamic wrinkles that form. It is best used on imperfections around the upper portion of the face, such as the glabellar lines between the eyebrows, the folds on the forehead, and lines around the eyes known as crow’s feet.
How long does Botox last?
The results from Botox will appear within a week of the initial injections and will last several months before the lines and wrinkles reform. To maintain the results, patients will want to visit the team at the Skin Center of South Miami on a regular basis.
Am I too old for Botox?
During an evaluation with our team, we can determine if Botox will provide the results patients desire. In some cases, severe skin laxity may still benefit from plastic surgery to address, and we can refer patients to a professional in the area to have the procedure completed if they desire.
