Light Therapy Options for Treatment of Psoriasis and Vitiligo

XTRAC®

  • Best for specific areas of treatment.
  • Covered by insurance when deemed medically necessary.
  • Treatment length varies from weeks to months depending on the individual but is typically 10-12 sessions in total. The AAD (American Academy of Dermatology) recommends 2-3 treatments per week.
  • Side effects of the XTRAC® laser are minimal (redness, blistering, and increase in pigmentation) and usually clear within a few weeks.
  • While some patients have reported seeing immediate improvement, results are typically noticeable within 3-4 treatments. More significant improvement is most often between 6-10 treatments.

UVB Booth

  • Best for full body treatment.
  • Covered by insurance when other treatment options have not worked.
  • Treatment length varies from weeks to months depending on the individual. The AAD (American Academy of Dermatology) recommends 2-3 treatments per week.
  • Our physicians will consider each patient’s sensitivity to UV light when planning their therapy. Side effects can include: mild sunburn, stinging or itching, and signs of premature aging.
  • Results can take up to two months for significant changes, however, some patients see results in just a few weeks.
